God our Father gives us everything through Jesus his Son. "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man. Every gift we receive comes from the Father through him alone.

We praise the only-begotten Son of God for taking flesh of the Blessed Virgin Mary to be our Saviour and our Bread of Life. By his Cross and Resurrection, Jesus obtained from the Father the gift of the Holy Spirit which he pours upon us to form us into one body, the Mystical Body of Christ of which Jesus is the head and we the members.

By the power of his Cross and Resurrection, Jesus pours the Holy Spirit upon us and forms us into one body, the Mystical Body of Christ of which he is head and we are the members.

Chief among those members is the Blessed Virgin Mary. In her we see the fulness of Christ's redeeming power. We honour her faith, humility, purity and love, and praise God for what he has done in her. We love her for the beauty of soul he has created in her, and because he has given us Mary as our mother. And we remember that she gives the glory to God: "My soul magnifies the Lord", she says.

This means she is not a figure from the remote past, for she lives in the presence of God and prays for us powerfully. We ask her to show us her Son as she did for the Wise men, and lead us to adore him. The symbolism of Our Lady of Cardigan is that Mary presents Jesus to us and says, "He is the Light of the World: worship Him."
